Wondai QLD

Wondai is a small town in queensland Australia of about between 4500 and 4650 people. The town used to be self-sustaining until the merger of the South Burnett council and subsequent murder of all the small towns in the area. So far (the 3 years isn't up yet) we still have doctors (though they don't bulk-bill) and a post office, the hospital has closed to the public and dont bother trying to find a bank or a teller machine. Well you can go to the RSL or the Cecil pub to use the eftpos machine that takes $2.20 in fees if you are desperate and its the right time of day.

There is still a lot to see around Wondai though and the National Treasure cafe has the best coffee in the area. They grind each cup so its always fresh. The Cecil hotel has a lot of history and is worth taking a look at and there are still an art gallery and 2 museums. There is also a library but I don't know for how long.

There are 2 main streets in Wondai (as in its neighbor Murgon) because of the days when bullock herds were turned around here.
